LATEST BEAUTY BUYS

Sunday, 25 May 2014

Well hello there! Apologies for not posting in quite a while. But whilst I've been gone I've been buying a few things (clothes and make-up). You may see a clothes haul next week but for now here's some products I've bought recently.

Essie Nail Polish - Turquoise and Caicos

Essie polishes are beauuuutiful! My favourite shade is Splash of Grenadine - a pinky/purple made famous by Essie Button. I've got a couple of shades but they are more autumn/winter appropriate. I was looking for a more springtime look and I've eyed up this shade in the past. Turquoise and Caicos is a gorgeous mint green, perfect for the warmer weather. £7.99 is a bit steep for a nail polish in my eyes BUT the shade range is great and the polish lasts for ages without any chips.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Peach Club

Anna from VDM has raved about these lipsticks in some of her videos. I'm a lover of matte lipsticks so this was right up my street. The other colours available were either too pink or too red. I like a bold lip but maybe not THAT bold. I decided on the more neutral Peach Club. However, once I got it home and tried it I realised it's definitely more of a coral-red than a neutral tone. But hey, when it comes to lipsticks you gotta go bold or go home (or so they say...)

Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow - Smokey Purple

I'm forever reaching for my nude palettes when I apply eye shadows. I've been looking for a bit of colour for quite a while. I arrived early to work one day so I decided to pop into the local Boots (this is how most of my Boots purchases are made). And there it was.... Rimmel's Smokey Purple eye shadow palette. It consists of 4 shades: a light highlighting shade, a dark purple for the crease, a dark pink for the lid and a lilac colour if the darker purple is a bit too much. As soon as I spotted this I fell in love. 4 gorgeous shades for £6.99? Don't mind if I do.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara - Dark Blond

I'll let you in on a little secret - I've neglected my brows for months until they looked like 2 caterpillars above my eyes. That's not even an exaggeration. The hair had got out of control and there was no shape at all. On Tuesday I decided enough was enough. I wanted shape back! I booked an appointment with the woman who usually sorts out my eyebrows, and after a painful 15 minutes of plucking, the shape was finally back. I picked up this brow mascara to define the shape a bit more. My hair thins at the end of the brow so I wanted to make it a lot more obvious. I've used this a couple of times already and it's pretty darn good.

Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil - Sable Brown

Rimmel do the best liner pencils! I've had their black one for years, and for only £2.99, it's an amazing investment. As I've been using nude/brown eye shadows I wanted a liner to match. Sable Brown is the perfect shade! Rimmel's pencils glide on the lid effortlessly so I never really have trouble when creating the perfect liner effect. Liquid liner and I are having a time-out right now, it's all about the liner pencil.

I'd like to know which beauty products you've been buying lately - drop me a line in the comments!

  3. I've been eyeing up the Bourjois lip colours for a while but feel like I'm too scared to go for them! However I think I may invest as they seem so good and value for money. I'm trying to choose my first Essie colour too - this one is so pretty :)

    Nice to have you back!
